Methodist Hospital for Surgery Opens

December 16, 2010

ADDISON, Texas – The grand opening of Methodist Hospital for Surgery, Dallas’ newest hospital, was celebrated by local physicians, representatives from Methodist Health System and Nueterra Healthcare, and state and local leaders, including Texas State Senator Florence Shapiro, at an intimate gathering in late October. On November 1, the hospital officially opened its doors and began seeing patients.

The hospital brings together some of Dallas’ leading surgeons to provide specialized surgical care for ear, nose, and throat; spine surgery; and orthopedics. As experts in scope of care, the physicians and staff at Methodist Hospital for Surgery have created a focused model of care to promote greater success in clinical outcomes, operational efficiency, and patient satisfaction.

Superior patient experience is one of the driving forces at Methodist Hospital for Surgery. The hospital’s commitment to hospitality and customer service is demonstrated by its upscale interior design and amenities, such as gourmet room service for patients, free parking, and wireless Internet accessibility throughout the building.

Robert Viere, MD, chairman of the board for Methodist Hospital for Surgery, says, “The physicians at Methodist Hospital for Surgery are dedicated to providing the highest quality, compassionate care in a facility that is focused on patients who suffer from ENT, spine, and orthopedic conditions.”

Advanced treatment and clinical excellence is also a focus for Methodist Hospital for Surgery. The hospital is equipped with progressive technology such as the Medtronic O-arm surgical imaging system, the first of its kind in North Texas. Optimized for use in spine and orthopedic surgeries, the O-arm provides real-time imaging of a patient’s anatomy in two and three dimensions. A four-to-one nurse-to-patient ratio and safety protocols that include bedside medication verification also ensure that patients receive the highest quality care.

Michael Arvin, Methodist Health System senior vice president and chief development officer, adds, “The partnership that was formed among this special group of physicians, developers, SRP Medica, architect BOKA Powell, contractor Rogers-O’Brien, and the Town of Addison at a time when there has been much change and uncertainty due to health reform only demonstrates the quality and commitment of the partnership. This hospital’s convenient location on the Dallas North Tollway in the Town of Addison allows patients access from anywhere in North Texas. On behalf of our development partner, Nueterra Healthcare, and the board of directors of Methodist Health System, we are proud of the contributions from all the partners in bringing this hospital to the community.”

The specialty hospital, designed by Dallas-based architectural firm BOKA Powell, will meet the needs of both inpatient and same-day surgical patients. The over 100,000-square-feet facility opened with seven fully equipped operating rooms, 32 private inpatient rooms, and an ICU unit, and it houses comprehensive diagnostic imaging services including CT, MRI, X-ray, ultrasound, and bone density scanning, as well as inpatient and outpatient physical therapy.

Methodist Hospital for Surgery is a joint venture partnership between several area physicians, Methodist Health System, and Nueterra Healthcare, a health care management company based in Leawood, Kansas. For more information about Nueterra Healthcare, visit NueterraHealthcare.com.
